The Finnish traditional menu for Christmas Eve Christmas Eve starters
Silli or known as Herring which comes from the Baltic Sea, consists of 3 dishes .. one is with onion, one is with mustard, and one with Crème fraîche which is a sour cream. This is served with ‘baby potatos’, smoked salmon, mäti which is known as roe and can also be called caviar.
Limmpu, which is similar to a sweet rye bread on our table. It is especially eaten at Christmas and Easter.
