Bon vivant and renowned celebrity chef Steve Szabo has been appointed Executive Chef at the stunning Soul tower in Surfers Paradise.

Well known for his extraordinary gastronomic talents and wealth of experience, Szabo will be responsible for the entire food and beverage services available within the Soul tower.

His distinctive imagination and well practised methods of preparation, backed by years of training and much applauded awards, will put him in good stead in creating the innovative cuisine and menu design for Soul’s new signature restaurant; as well as the innumerable functions, the leisurely poolside menus and in-room dining services within the Mirvac managed Sea Temple Surfers Paradise operated at the Soul tower.

With his talented brigade, Szabo’s trademark of technically brilliant dishes, whether it be for breakfast, lunch or dinner, a celebration or event, will showcase his well-honed skills and flexibility, delighting Soul’s residents, visitors and guests alike.

Measured extravagance will be on the menu, with a focus on innovative modern cuisine.

Szabo said he was thrilled to be taking on the new challenge as Executive Chef at Soul, following a successful 10 years at Palazzo Versace with honours including a duo of Two Hat restaurants in Vanitas and Vie along with number of locally and nationally acclaimed wine lists; a Gourmet Traveller 3 Goblets award and a successful cookbook.

His culinary training ground also included some of the finest Michelin Star restaurants of Europe.

“I am looking forward to this challenge.  Setting up the style and ambience of a new signature restaurant; appealing to the many and varied tastebuds of diners for a whole host of occasions, and the opportunity to create another award winning restaurant,” he said.

“One of the most exciting things for me will be working in such a beautiful restaurant,” he said.

“With its sweeping ocean outlook and iconic location, I believe it will be the most stunning restaurant in all of Queensland. It will be a pleasure to be able to match the food and wine to such a place.”

The 245m Soul tower is the centrepiece of the multi-billion dollar revitalisation of Surfers Paradise, which includes the redevelopment of a 200-metre stretch of foreshore transforming the Esplanade into a sweeping expanse for pedestrians, sun-seekers and outdoor diners.

Soul has been credited as helping to re-position the Gold Coast on the world map, as well as drawing locals back to the area with a vibrant mix of retail, dining  and leisure opportunities.

The $850 million Juniper Group project is playing a key part in the exciting evolution of Surfers Paradise, comprising contemporary additions to the iconic skyline and a revitalisation of the ocean foreshore which people come from all corners of the world to visit.
