Ischgl and its neighbouring villages of Galtűr, Kappl and See have a diary full of events to play out the ski season, maximising their snowsure position in the Paznaun valley of the Silvretta mountains in Tirol, Austria.

On 11 April, Ischgl hosts the annual Gastro Ski World Cup, when 60 celebrity chefs from across Europe will compete in a giant slalom race against each other for the Chef’s Star Cup.The resort’s Easter Sunday concert on April 24 with German band Culcha Candela, is a prequel to the main end of season Top Of The Mountain concert featuring The Killers on Saturday 30 April, which is a great bonus ski getaway weekend for Brits with the Royal Wedding bank holiday and May bank holiday meaning four days off work.

Ischgl’s family-friendly neighbouring resort of Kappl hosts a Spring Festival on Sunday 17 April, with a live band and plenty of party games for the children.

For fun on the piste of a different kind, head for See, just a little further down from Kappl. At the Water Surf contest on Easter Saturday (April 23), contestants attempt to cross a small lake on skis, snowboards or by any other means. The aim is to stay dry crossing the artificially-created lake, after a run-up on the slopes.

At the end of the valley, Galtűr has an Easter snow festival on Easter Sunday (24 April), with activities and music geared to families.
